ServSafe® Food Manager

Any establishment that serves food in Colorado must have a certified Food Manager on-site. As per Colorado regulation 2-102.12 & 2-102.20,

Keys to passing the certification exam:

  1. Read your book completely before the course
  2. Complete activities and practice questions throughout the book
  3. Bring your book and exam answer sheet to class
  • Ensure your book is current: 7th Edition Revised
  • If you need the exam answer sheet, we have them available for $42 

Good news: with a score of 70% or higher, you’ll earn your 5-year ServSafe certification.

The ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification Examination (ServSafe® Manager Exam) is available in:

  • Online: English, Spanish and Chinese.
  • Print: English, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, French Canadian, Japanese, and Large Print.
  • In addition, there is an Instructor Exam in English for anyone interested in becoming a Certified ServSafe® Instructor.

You are welcome to retest if you did not pass the examination. 

You can take the examination twice within 30 days. If you don’t pass the exam on your second attempt, you must wait 60 days from your most recent attempt before taking the exam again.

A maximum of 4 attempts is allowed within a 12 month period.

You will need to purchase a new Exam Answer Sheet to retake a print exam or purchase a new Exam Access Code to re-take an online exam.

New Colorado Food Establishment regulation

Colorado Retail Food Establishment Rules and Regulations citation 2-102.12 & 2-102.20 requires that at least one employee, with authority to direct and control food preparation and service, shall be certified by an accredited food safety certification program as of March 1, 2025.

There must be a CFPM (aka ServSafe® certified) employee on premises when open for business.
